Reservoir acquires catalog of legendary rock producer Tom Werman

New York-based music rights company Reservoir has acquired the producer catalog of legendary Rock producer Tom Werman.

The deal includes 100% of Werman’s producer rights for all of his works including the No.1 Billboard Hot 100 hit Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison.

Today’s news follows Reservoir‘s recent acquisition of US record label and music publishing company Tommy Boy Music LLC in a deal valued at approximately $100m.

Werman began his career as an A&R executive for Epic Records, signing rock artists like REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, Molly Hatchet, and Boston, before shifting focus to record producing.

As a producer, he contributed to 23 Gold and Platinum-certified records for artists and bands such as Mother’s Finest, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Molly Hatchet, Blue Oyster Cult, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, Dokken, Kix, L.A. Guns, and Poison.

In addition to Every Rose Has Its Thorn, some of Werman’s productions include Poison’s Nothin’ But A Good Time, Twisted Sister’s We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock, Mötley Crüe’s Girls, Girls, Girls, and Cheap Trick’s Surrender, among many others.

“It’s gratifying to make this agreement with Faith Newman and the Reservoir team who genuinely care about my work, and I’m glad to have found such avid supporters.”

Reservoir confirmed in April that it is planning to list on the NASDAQ via a merger with Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC), Roth CH Acquisition Co. II, giving the combined company an enterprise value of $788m.

The result of that deal, expected to close in the third quarter of 2021, is that Reservoir – via the new combined company, Reservoir Media Inc – will go public on the NASDAQ under the ticker “RSVR.”Music Business Worldwide
