After raising $122m, DICE buys livestreaming platform Boiler Room

UK-born ticketing, livestream and music discovery platform DICE has acquired U-based electronic music live streaming platform, Boiler Room.

The acquisition of Boiler Room comes just a week after DICE announced that it has raised $122 million in Series C funding.

Boiler Room’s history began over a decade ago in the UK “as a webcam taped to a wall” and since 2010, the platform has built an archive spanning over 8,000 performances by more than 5,000 artists across 200 cities.

According to a statement announcing the acquisition, the two platforms will work together to “enhance Boiler Room’s offering and drive additional revenue to artists, rights holders, collectives, festivals and clubs”.

A new Boiler Room board has been formed with Terry Weerasinghe, Blaise Bellville, Ibtisam Omer and Phil Hutcheon, and over time this will be grown with new member appointments.

The merger will also see the expansion of both teams across a number of locations.

DICE introduced livestreaming to its platform last year and has supported over 6,400 artists and selling tickets in 147 countries.
