‘Spotify holdouts do not sell any more music’

Top-level pop artists who hold the availability of their album back from Spotify during its release period do not sell any more copies.

That’s according to a fascinating new piece of research by Spotify’s Will Page in a report concentrating on the potential of The Netherlands to grow its streaming market, Adventures In The Netherlands.

The study uncovers some encouraging trends in music piracy. It includes a ‘deep dive’ into music piracy in the Netherlands and a comparison of music piracy between the Netherlands and Italy.
