Universal Music Group‘s annual fiscal report contains a multitude of key stats about the company.
One of the most revelatory is the percentage of UMG’s global recorded music revenues generated by ‘catalog’ music – in this case, defined as tracks that are three years or older – vs. ‘current’ music.
MBW has fed this data into the below chart.
Note: The years 2018, 2019, and 2020 – all taken from Vivendi annual reports – refer to digital recorded music revenues (streaming/sales) only. The other stats all represent digital plus physical recorded music revenues.
