Label Manager, Fire Records

Fire Records is looking for a new Label Manager.

We require someone who lives and breathes music and who already feels connected to the world we inhabit. Someone who is hardworking, enthusiastic and passionate. Someone who understands that independent music is about more than sales and streams. It’s about culture, ideas, and helping extraordinary artists find their audience.

That means you have a genuine appreciation for artists from across the Fire Records catalogue, whether that’s established and influential artists such as Throwing Muses, The Lemonheads, Royal Trux, Earth and Black Lips, alongside the current generation of Fire artists including Tropical Fuck Storm, Vanishing Twin, Jane Weaver, Memorials and many others. Equally important is a desire to help develop and champion emerging artists such as Haylie Davis, Monde UFO and many more and the next wave of talent that will define the label’s future.

Fire Records has never been a conventional record company. We’ve built our reputation by following our instincts rather than trends, by supporting singular artists, and by taking risks on music that matters. We’re a home for mavericks, run by mavericks. We don’t approach things in the traditional way and we’re rarely interested in doing things simply because that’s how they’ve always been done. Experimentation, enthusiasm and independence are part of our DNA.

This role also sits within a much broader and increasingly interconnected creative ecosystem. Through close relationships with a number of highly respected and culturally influential businesses, projects and organisations, there are opportunities that extend well beyond the traditional boundaries of a record label. The worlds of music, publishing, live events, film, art and independent culture increasingly overlap

There are also some exciting developments currently taking shape behind the scenes, with ambitious plans for future expansion that will be announced in due course.

Note: Experience in the industry, especially production, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the Press, Production, Digital, Distribution and Design departments, setting priorities and ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and to a high standard
• Act as the operational lead across release campaigns, coordinating departments and external partners from signing through to release and beyond
• Report directly to, and work closely with, the Managing & Creative Director on strategy, priorities and label direction
• Use existing relationships across press, digital, distribution and the wider industry to raise Fire’s profile and secure opportunities for our roster
• Identify and help drive new business opportunities, partnerships and areas of expansion for the label
• Help maintain the culture, standards and low staff turnover that Fire is known for, mentoring and supporting departmental staff
