Description
Cooking Vinyl is looking for a creative, highly organised and commercially minded Product & Marketing Manager to join the team. This is a hands-on role working across an eclectic roster of artists helping to develop and execute campaigns through to release and beyond.
Working closely with artists, managers and the wider Cooking Vinyl team, you’ll be responsible for executing all aspects of your projects, bringing together creative, digital, physical, promotional and commercial activity to deliver effective and engaging release campaigns.
We’re looking for someone who understands how a record label operates, is passionate about music and artist development, and is ready to take greater ownership of projects and campaigns.
The ideal candidate will have at least two year’s experience working at a record label, artist management company, distributor or in a comparable music-industry role and will already have a good understanding of the recorded music release process.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage a portfolio of frontline and catalogue releases from initial planning through to release and post-release activity, ensuring campaigns are delivered effectively and on schedule.
- Act as a key day-to-day contact for artists, managers and their teams, building strong working relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout each project.
- Develop and implement creative and commercially focused marketing strategies for frontline albums, reissues and catalogue campaigns.
- Develop creative campaign ideas and oversee the delivery of key marketing assets, including artwork, photography, video, content and other promotional materials.
- Oversee the release process across digital and physical formats, coordinating the delivery of masters, artwork, metadata, credits and other required assets.
- Work with production and distribution partners on physical releases, including vinyl, CD and special formats, ensuring products are delivered accurately and on time.
- Prepare campaign materials including marketing plans, project descriptions, sales notes, creative briefs and presentations, ensuring messaging is clear and consistent.
- Work closely with distribution, retail, press, radio and other relevant partners and teams to maximise opportunities for artists and releases.
- Monitor the commercial performance of releases, including streaming and sales activity, and use available data and insights to inform campaign decisions and identify further opportunities.
- Manage agreed marketing budgets for assigned projects, tracking expenditure and ensuring campaign spend is appropriate and within budget.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across Cooking Vinyl, communicating project priorities and developments while proactively identifying opportunities and resolving issues to keep campaigns moving.
About you:
- At least two years professional experience at a record label or in a comparable role within the music industry.
- A good working understanding of how records are released and marketed in today’s music industry.
- Experience supporting or managing artist and release campaigns.
- An understanding of digital marketing, social media, streaming platforms and audience development.
- Excellent project-management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple releases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence and professionalism to work directly with artists, managers and external partners.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly around release assets, artwork, metadata and deadlines.
- Creative instincts and the ability to contribute meaningful ideas to artist campaigns.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in understanding how marketing activity translates into audience growth, streams and sales.
- Confidence working with campaign data and using it to inform decisions.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to take ownership of projects while knowing when to involve or escalate to colleagues.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to get involved in all aspects of a campaign when required.
- A broad and genuine passion for music.
