Physical Distribution – Warehouse Operative

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 depending on experience

We’ve done all this despite and because of our independence and without external investment, dodgy capital or strategic alliances with the majors.

This is an exciting time for state51. At the end of last year we scored a top ten with Madness and their ‘Hit Parade’ album. Kate Bush was also back in the charts with ‘Running Up That Hill’. We have also taken on a number of inspirational independent labels. The growth of our physical distribution business means we are expanding our team with two roles: sales and warehouse.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity within the independent music sector and will suit an ambitious and hardworking person who is a good team player but also self-motivated.

This is a hands-on, practical role working in a fast-paced environment as part of a tight warehouse team. The role’s primary focus will revolve around logistics and warehouse operations, with the secondary being on order processing.

You will need high energy levels, and be able to communicate clearly and effectively with your team and external partners like couriers, shops, customers and record labels. Being able to solve problems quickly and effectively will also be critical.

The work is physically and mentally demanding and requires resilience and determination. Although work is process-orientated and there’s a regular rhythm to daily, weekly and monthly tasks, it can also be unpredictable; so you’ll need to be able to work reactively and be flexible enough to shift between different types of work, and find new ways to achieve goals and solve problems.

Duties

• Scheduling and executing daily, weekly and monthly warehouse work items
• Managing inventory and stock movements, counting and stocking items in, adding new products to catalogue management software
• Liaising between courier partners and national and international delivery points
• Booking in collections and working with logistics partners eg inbound and outbound goods, customs clearance agents
• Entering orders from emails, spreadsheets and online portals
• Updating shops and partners with up-to-date order information
• Processing returns
• Picking and packing orders

Skills & Experience Preferred

• 1-2 years working in music distribution, warehouse or fast-paced environments like kitchens, factories
• Excellent communicator
• Attention to detail
• Experience with order management systems (Odoo, ERP etc)
• Working knowledge of record shops
• Experience of catalogue and inventory management
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and physical traffic
• Experience working with couriers and shipping agents
