Description
Catalog Advisory Coordinator
Location: Los Angeles, CA or Nashville, TN
The role
Range is hiring a Catalog Advisory Coordinator. You’ll help us turn royalty statements into the numbers and narrative that allow us to go to market. It’s important to already understand how royalties work from past roles at a publisher, label or business management firm. Here you’ll learn the deal side: how catalogs are valued, marketed to buyers and taken through to close.
What you’ll do
Analyze royalty statements. Collect and normalize statements from labels, publishers, PROs, SoundExchange and distributors. Build clean earnings histories by income stream, period, song and territory.
Underwrite catalogs. Track trends, seasonality, decay curves and concentration in top songs. Flag one-off items, unrecouped balances and gaps in collections.
Build the materials. Turn the data into offering decks, financial summaries and buyer-ready data rooms.
Diligence the rights. Review record, publishing and administration agreements to confirm what’s being sold, who owns it and what it earns.
Support the process. Track outreach to buyers, answer diligence questions and help manage timelines from launch to close.
Research the market. Follow catalog transactions, buyers and pricing trends. Find new artists, writers and producers whose catalogs fit the business.
What you bring
1-2 years in royalties at a music publisher, record label or business management firm.
Hands-on fluency with royalty statements. You know mechanicals, performance, sync, master/artist royalties and neighboring rights, and what each statement does and doesn’t show.
Excel or Google Sheets skills: pivot tables, lookups and turning messy statements into clean models.
Sharp attention to detail. You catch the line item that doesn’t tie.
Real curiosity about the catalog market: who’s buying, what drives multiples, and why some catalogs hold value while others decay.
Clear writing, and the judgment to handle confidential financial information.
Nice to have
Experience with royalty systems or data tools such as Counterpoint, Curve, RoyaltyShare, Songtrust, Luminate or Chartmetric.
Exposure to catalog valuation: NPS/NLS multiples, decay modeling or a past diligence process.
Familiarity with how the major PROs, MLC, SoundExchange and international societies collect.
Contacts at publishers, labels, administrators or catalog funds.
SQL, Python or another way to work with large statement files.
