Surfdog/DKM is an independent record label and artist management company based in Encinitas, CA, representing globally recognized artists across genres, including rock, blues, reggae and alternative music, along with comedians, and film scoring.
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Marketing Director with significant experience to oversee day-to-day operations and marketing campaigns for a roster of established and new artists.
This role includes involvement with artist management, music marketing, and project management, requiring someone who can balance big-picture strategy with detailed execution. The position will oversee marketing campaign execution and artist project coordination across album releases, touring cycles, and promotional initiatives.
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and experienced in managing campaigns.

This is an on-site position in Encinitas, CA with a small staff and boutique environment.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Campaign Execution
● Develop and execute marketing campaigns supporting album releases and tours.
● Lead coordination across marketing, PR, touring, and digital teams.
● Oversee social media strategy and execution for multiple artists on the roster.
● Manage digital marketing initiatives including paid advertising, email campaigns, and website management.
● Maintain campaign timelines and ensure projects launch on schedule.
● Analyze streaming, sales, social media, and ticketing data for Artist reporting and to optimize marketing campaigns.
● Oversee the creation of marketing assets including music videos, promotional videos, email campaigns, and social media content.
● Collaborate with media outlets, industry partners, and social agencies to maximize reach and audience growth.
Artist Management
● Manage day-to-day operations for assigned artists and act as a key point of contact between artists and their teams.
● Coordinate with agents, promoters, publicists, labels, and business managers to ensure alignment across touring, releases, and marketing campaigns.
● Support long-term career strategy and planning for artists.
● Travel as needed for tours and various events.
● Oversee touring logistics, including coordination and promoter communications.
Qualifications
● 5+ years of experience in artist management, music marketing, label operations, or a related role within the music industry.
● Strong understanding of touring, music marketing campaigns, and release cycles.
● Preferred experience working with promoters, agents, business managers, labels, digital platforms, etc.
● Experience managing marketing campaigns for touring artists or album releases preferred.
● Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
● Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
● Experience managing marketing budgets and campaign performance.
● Passion for music and artist development.
