Overview

The Royalty Investment Analyst enables informed music catalog investment decisions by conducting detailed analysis of royalty data, income statements, and market trends. This role provides key insights on catalog performance, develops sophisticated valuation models, summarizes deal opportunities, and directly supports acquisition transactions through clear, data-driven recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aggregate and analyze royalty and revenue statements from publishers, labels, and collection societies made available in seller data rooms, utilizing RYLTY, Inc.’s proprietary technology.
  • Build and refine financial models to project earnings, calculate catalog value, and advise on investment decisions.
  • Create comprehensive catalog performance summaries and present financial metrics to senior leadership, investors, and business partners.
  • Conduct historical revenue analysis to surface monetization trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
    Benchmark valuation metrics using industry data and comparable transaction multiples.
  • Act as liaison with catalog sellers, ensuring financial histories are complete, and update financial models and reports accordingly.
  • Address due diligence queries from investors by referencing internal analysis or communicating insights from sellers and management teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Music Business with significant quantitative coursework.
  • 3–5 years of experience in royalty analysis, rights management, investment evaluation, or music catalog valuation.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and financial modeling; experience with BI or valuation platforms preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of music royalty streams, catalog rights structures, and industry-specific revenue models.
  • Advanced analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to convert complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience with M&A, catalog sales, or investment-related financial processes strongly preferred.

  • Keen interest in music finance, intellectual property valuation, and innovative deal structures.
  • Ability to translate analytics into practical financial recommendations.
