Country singer Zach Bryan just broke a significant concert attendance record in the US.
A total of 112,408 fans watched Bryan perform on Saturday (September 27) at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, setting a new record for the highest-attended ticketed concert in US history.
That’s according to concert promoter AEG Presents, which confirmed the final count on Sunday (September 28).
Zach Bryan’s concert surpassed the previous record set by George Strait, who performed in front of 110,905 fans at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field in 2024, and the Grateful Dead‘s 1977 concert at Raceway Park in New Jersey, which drew 107,019 attendees.
Michigan Stadium is the third-largest stadium globally and the largest in the US. While the facility has hosted soccer matches and hockey games, Saturday’s event marked its debut as a major concert venue, according to AEG.
The seven-hour show featured five acts, with John Mayer serving as special guest. Ryan Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen, Joshua Slone, and Keenan O’Meara also performed. Bryan played a 27-song set lasting two and a half hours.
“I’ll remember this forever, Michigan,” Bryan told the crowd during his performance, as reported by Rolling Stone.
Michigan Live reported that tickets for the concert sold out in under 2.5 hours when they went on sale in February. The event generated $5 million in merchandise sales, setting another record, according to AEG.
The University of Michigan athletics department had projected the concert would bring in $1.7 million in net revenue. The department also indicated Saturday’s show is expected to be the first of additional concerts planned for the stadium.
Bryan has experienced significant commercial success over the past year. His album The Great American Bar Scene, released July 2024, saw 17 songs out of 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
The Grammy-winning artist re-signed with Warner Records earlier this year. Variety reported in May that Bryan was also in the process of selling his publishing catalog.
In October last year, Bryan decided to withdraw from the Grammys, opting out of submitting his music for the 2025 Grammy Awards. Sources told Variety at the time that Bryan felt uncomfortable with awards shows making music competitive.
On Spotify, Bryan has over 26 million monthly listeners. His 2022 track Something in the Orange out of his American Heartbreak record has been streamed 1.4 billion times.
