YouTube’s new king? India’s T-Series could soon overtake PewDiePie to become the world’s biggest channel

If you wanted to get a picture of the global potential of India’s music industry, you don’t need to look much further than this.

Indian music label T-Series could soon own the world’s biggest YouTube channel, overtaking Swedish influencer PewDiePie.

As of Sunday (October 28) at 2.30pm EDT, T-Series can boast of having 67,613,573 YT subscribers worldwide.

PewDiePie, meanwhile, has 68,072,501– just under 459,000 ahead.

If T-Series manages to outrun PewDiePie, who initially found fame with video-game related videos online, it will dethrone the Swede from the No.1 position on YouTube for the first time in five years.

According to data site Tubular Labs, T-Series added 40.3 million subscribers in the 365 days to October 25.

PewDiePie, meanwhile, grew his channel by 9.7 million subs in the same period.

However, over this weekend, it appears PewDiePie’s supported have rallied around him: on Friday, according to Billboard, T-Series was just 134,423 subscribers behind him.

The YouTube channel of Bollywood-angled T-Series is populated by music videos and film trailers.

The label has existed since 1983.
