YouTube Music app now preinstalled on all new Android 10 devices

YouTube Music is really ramping up its user acquisition efforts.

Following the streaming service’s launch in 14 new markets including India in March, YouTube Music has announced today (September 27) that its app will now come preinstalled on all new mobile devices launching with Android 10 (and Android 9), including the Pixel series.

YouTube’s revamped subscription streaming service was announced and launched in five markets in May last year, before going fully live in June 2018 on iOS and Android across 17 markets including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany.

The YouTube Music icon should be visible as soon a new device is started up.

In March, YouTube Music rival Spotify announced that it would come pre-installed on millions of new Samsung mobile devices.

“Music listeners on Android devices are now just a few taps away from streaming their go-to tracks and discovering new music. From the gym, to the car, to work—it’s all here, right in your back pocket,” stated YouTube Music’s blog post announcing the news and signed off by Product Manager Brandon Bilinski.Music Business Worldwide
