William Hsieh appointed Managing Director of Universal Music Taiwan

Universal Music Greater China (UMGC), a unit of Universal Music Group (UMG), has appointed William Hsieh as Managing Director of Universal Music Taiwan, and Senior Vice President of UMGC, effective immediately.

Hsieh joins UMG from Chinese interactive fitness tech firm Fiture, where he served as Vice President of Content.

Previously, he was Group Vice President for Space Cycle, a wellness studio chain integrating music, community, and technology. He also played a role at Electronic Arts Asia as Head of Regional Operations & Strategy.

Known for a career spanning music, sports, and gaming, assumes his role at Universal Music Taiwan in Taipei, reporting directly to Timothy Xu, Chairman and CEO of UMGC.

Hsieh’s appointment came just weeks after Xu, former President & CEO of Taihe Music Group and former Chairman & CEO of Greater China for Sony Music, joined UMGC.

With roots in the music industry dating back to his 1993 internship at Sony Music Taiwan, Hsieh’s expertise covers international and domestic repertoire marketing, artist management, and strategic business development.

Hsieh’s appointment marks the latest in a string of recent hires at Universal Music Greater China.

Prior to Hsieh and Xu’s appointments, UMGC named Carol Ding as Senior Vice President & Head of Digital and Commercial last year and Nan Jin as Head of Communications in 2020.
