Warner’s ADA Asia inks deal with Indonesia-based DPM, one of the country’s largest music companies

Warner Music Group’s newly launched ADA Asia has entered into a new partnership with DPM, one of the largest music companies in Indonesia.

ADA Asia launched earlier this month and the new division extends ADA’s service across Greater China, Korea, and South East Asia.

DPM is home to a collective of 21 independent record labels, including companies such as Graha Prima Swara, Naga Swarasakti, Pelangi Records, Sani Musik and Virgo Multi Cipta, which IFPI identified as being among the 10 largest labels in the country in 2019.

DPM also boasts a catalog of more than 47,000 tracks, which is expected to rise to 60,000 by the end of 2021.

The catalog features classic rock and pop tracks, as well as Dangdut music – a popular Indonesian folk genre.

ADA will now also be supporting leading local artists such as Armada (pictured), ADA Band, Al Ghazali, Andra & The Backbone, Cita Citata, Dewa 19, Pasto, Nella Kharisma, Siti Badriah, Zaskia Gotik, Inul Daratista, Jamrud, Marcell, Wali, Tantowi Yahya, Syahrini, Sabyan and Slank, looking to break them in international territories.

It will also represent the catalog of superstars Broery Marantika, Dewi Yull, Didi Kempot, Elvy Sukaesih, Gombloh, God Bless, Panbers, Koes Plus, Rhoma Irama and Rinto Harahap.

“This is a landmark moment for ADA in Asia and I can’t overstate the significance of DPM in Indonesia.”

Chee Meng Tan, ADA Asia

Chee Meng Tan, Managing Director, ADA Asia, said: “This is a landmark moment for ADA in Asia and I can’t overstate the significance of DPM in Indonesia.

“It’s a massive coup for us to have them as our very first partner in the region, as it’s home to some of Indonesia’s most recognisable cultural icons and music, as well as some of the most exciting developing artists on its roster.

“I’m looking forward to ADA and Warner Music getting behind them as we look to showcase Indonesia’s rich culture and musical talents to the rest of the world.”

“We’re very excited to join forces with ADA to propel both our well-established catalogue and our frontline hits, which have become a revelation in this dawn of the streaming era in Indonesia.”

Iwan Sastra Wijaya, DPM

Iwan Sastra Wijaya, Managing Director of DPM, added: “We’re very excited to join forces with ADA to propel both our well-established catalogue and our frontline hits, which have become a revelation in this dawn of the streaming era in Indonesia.”

“We’re laser focused on thinking strategically to create as many services around an artist or aggregated label as possible.”

Andreas Wullur, Virgo Multi Cipta

Andreas Wullur, CEO, Virgo Multi Cipta, concluded: “Music distribution is only one thing, but a music partner is a whole different ball game.
