Warner ups its game in dance music by signing USHUAÏA partnership

Warner Music Group has signed a new partnership with Ibiza-based club and compilation brand USHUAÏA Entertainment.

This deal will also see WMG support the release and marketing of the Ibiza-based club’s annual USHUAÏA Ibiza compilation and the more specialist ANTS album.

In addition, the deal covers the hunt for talent by USHUAÏA, from which artists/DJs could be pushed up through the Warner system globally.

Charlie Sanchez, President, Warner Music Spain, says: “USHUAÏA Ibiza is an influential and iconic brand at the heart of the dance capital of the world.

“We look forward to working with them to discover new talent and promote their well respected compilations.”

Bart Cools, EVP Global A&R and Marketing, Dance Music, Warner Music, says: “Dance is arguably the fastest travelling, most international genre of music and we are committed to providing a home to the greatest artists and brands in the world.

Dance music-wise, WMG is home to established artists such as David Guetta, Kaskade, Robin Schulz and Skrillex and has also signed acts such as Cash Cash, Disciples, Galantis, Matoma and Moguai.

WMG’s labels include Atlantic, Big Beat Records, ffrr, One More Tune and Parlophone amongst others. WMG has also signed partnership deals with independent labels such as Because Music (home to Major Lazer) and Owsla (home to Jack U and Skrillex).

Yann Pissenem, USHUAÏA Entertainment CO-Founder & CEO, says: “With its expertise and experience in the Dance Music genre, Warner Music Group was the ideal choice when USHUAÏA Entertainment set out to identify a partner.  We are both committed to join forces to deliver cutting edge new albums for Dance fans.”

Yann Pissenem and Bart Cools recently met to conclude the deal at the International Music Summit in Ibiza, where they both also gave keynote speeches on the state of the industry.

Day-to-day operations between Warner Music Group and USHUAÏA Entertainment will be handled from Madrid by Lucas Holten, Warner Music Spain’s International Marketing Manager, and by the Warner Music Spain Catalogue team.
