Warner Music Group and Stability AI have entered into a new partnership, which the companies say will “advance the use of responsible AI in music creation”.
The partnership, according to today’s (November 19) announcement, combines “WMG’s long-standing advocacy for principled innovation with Stability AI’s expertise and leadership in commercially-safe generative audio”.
Warner Music Group announced today that the initiative will focus on developing “professional-grade tools that enable artists, songwriters, and producers to experiment, compose, and produce using ethically trained models.”
The company added that the deal “will unlock new forms of creative expression while protecting creators’ rights and opening new pathways for revenue”.
The two companies said that they will work directly with artists to “understand how they interact with emerging technologies”, in order to shape “next-generation tools that enhance their creative process without compromising quality or artistic control”.
The agreement marks Stability AI’s second partnership with a major music company in as many months.
Universal Music Groupentered into a strategic alliance with Stability AI last month to develop “next-generation professional music creation tools.”
UMG said that these tools will be powered by “responsibly trained generative AI and built to support the creative process of artists, producers and songwriters globally”.
Universal’s Stability AI deal arrived a few days after UMG settled its copyright infringement lawsuit against AI music platform Udio. The companies also agreed to collaborate on a new platform featuring licensed AI music, slated to launch in 2026.
StabilityAI claims to be “the industry leader in commercially safe generative audio”.
It says that its “Stable Audio family of models was built specifically for professionals and trained exclusively on licensed data to support responsible, high-quality music and sound generation”.
“Together, we’re laying the groundwork for an ethical music ecosystem that benefits artists and songwriters.”
