Warner Music Thailand hires Karl Kongkham as Managing Director

Karl Kongkham has been named Managing Director of Warner Music Thailand.

Kongkham takes up the role immediately and report to Calvin Wong, Warner Recorded Music’s President, South East Asia, Hong Kong and Korea.

Karl joins WMG from the Leo Burnett Group, an agency that specialises in advertising, digital and social media, content and innovation, sales promotion, direct marketing and event management.

He served as a business director of the company’s ARC Worldwide and MSLGROUP subsidiaries.

Kongkham said: “I’m so pleased to have been invited to take up this role at Warner Music Thailand. I’ll be combining my lifelong passion for music with my experience in running digital and social media campaigns. I will ensure that we continue to invest heavily in local artists, as well as bringing our global stars to Thailand.”

Calvin Wong added: “I’m delighted to welcome Karl to the Warner Music family. Thailand is a key South East Asian market for us with huge potential as digital services such as Spotify have recently opened for business. Karl’s expertise in digital and social media will be invaluable to our artists as we seek to grow our business in Thailand in the years ahead.”

Kongkham began his career at advertising agency J Walter Thompson in 2002 as an account executive, later becoming a Brand Team Leader in the company’s Bangkok office. He worked for clients including Diageo, Ford, HSBC, Johnson & Johnson, Nokia, and Unilever.

In 2015 he moved to the Leo Burnett Group, becoming department head for creative communications agency ARC Worldwide, and communications and digital influencer marketing specialist MSLGROUP Thailand. He led campaigns there for clients including Bangkok Life Assurance, P&G and Volvo.

Born in Canada, Kongkham is a graduate of Queen’s University and the University of Toronto. He has lived in Thailand for more than 18 years.
