Warner acquires production company in Spain

Warner Music Spain has acquired Newiscom, a local event production and marketing agency.

The company will continue to be run by Managing Director Borja Torres as a standalone unit within Warner Music Spain.

Formed in 1991, Newiscom offers a wide range of marketing services, with a particular emphasis on events including branded concerts, press conferences, launch parties and conventions.

Other specialities include communications strategy, digital marketing, video and print production.

The deal extends the existing co-operation with Warner Music. Over the past two years the companies have been partners in projects such as the SEAT sponsored centenary celebration for Madrid’s Gran Via with appearances from El Sueño de Morfeo, Sharon Corr, Melendi and NEK, as well as FNAC’s European Music Day event in Seville with Miguel Campello, La Shica, Kiko Veneno and Fuel Fandango.

Charlie Sanchez, President, Warner Music Spain said “We already know that Borja and the team are inventive and effective marketeers whose talents perfectly complement our creative approach to artist development.

“By welcoming them into the Warner Music family we strengthen our range of first-class artist services while offering Newiscom powerful opportunities for growth. Most importantly, Newiscom’s close, on-going relationships with a host of popular brands will help both established and emerging acts reach new audiences via unique experiences and events.”

Borja Torres said “Our previous projects with Warner Music Spain made this an easy decision. They know how and when to deploy our expertise and understand that any relationships between brands and artists need to be credible, providing fans with something fresh and exciting. I’m convinced that the fruits of this collaboration will attract other artists and further entertainment clients to Newiscom.”

Newiscom will function alongside Get In, a leading Spanish artist services company, which has been part of Warner Music since August 2008.

Get In has operations in artist management, live production and touring promotion. Along side its management duties for established artists such as La Oreja de Van Gogh, Mikel Erentxun, Alex Ubago and El Sueño de Morfeo, Get In has staged concerts for major acts such as Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Maná, Manu Chao, Seal, Il Divo and Lenny Kravitz.

John Reid, CEO, Warner Music Europe & International Marketing said: “The combination of our core recorded music business with Get In and Newiscom means we are able to plan and execute sophisticated multi-rights campaigns tailored to the needs of individual artists in Spain. This is the latest in a series of moves that has built a European network of expanded rights knowledge and resource, re-defining the depth and range of our partnerships with artists.”Music Business Worldwide
