Want to play pretend at being a record company boss? Now you can, with a fully licensed catalog.

B2B music streaming technology company Tuned Global has signed an agreement with fantasy record label app FanLabel, to provide platform services including music ingestion, delivery and and rightsholder royalty reporting.

FanLabel, whose stakeholders include all three majors, lets users play the role of music mogul to grow a fantasy record label by identifying the next hit songs.

FanLabel lets players pick the songs and artists they think will rise on the charts, becoming promoters and influencers as they play, discover and promote the songs and artists they’ve signed to their virtual label.

Fans also earn virtual royalties based on song and artist performance and promotional activity with the goal of climbing the leaderboard.

FanLabel monetizes those virtual Royalties in the FanLabel Marketplace, where users can combine Royalties with real cash to purchase artist merchandise, event tickets and more.

Tuned Global says that it facilitated FanLabel’s migration from its previous backend technology provider in 10 days, whilst delivering access to “millions” of tracks from participating labels, including Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment

Tuned Global will also report stream usage on a monthly basis to record labels, publishers, MLC and PROs on FanLabel’s behalf.

Following the recent launch of V5.0 of FanLabel’s app, the company says that it now features quicker gameplay and a range of new challenges and contests.

Concurrently with the Tuned Global revamp, FanLabel says that it has experienced a growth rate of 20-30%, in addition to improved retention rates as well as an increase in downloads, registrations, engagements.

Tuned Global has also previously worked on custom apps for the likes of Warner Music Group on a custom Ed Sheeran app, mixed marital arts brand UFC for its UFC Ultimate Sounds app, and Universal Music Group and Pizza Hut.

The company is also making headway in the virtual fitness business, having partnered with UK-based Psycle London to power a playlist app for the home fitness brand’s 70+ instructors

In addition, last month, Chile’s largest local music download platform PortalDisc launched what it calls the first 100% Chilean music-focused streaming service, which was built by Tuned Global.

Using its automated content delivery and ingestion system, INTAGA, Tuned Global provides its clients with instant catalog updates on new releases, takedowns and re-deliveries.
