Vevo unveils first Artists To Watch for 2018

Vevo today (November 6) launches its ‘dscvr’ Artists To Watch list for 2018 and, in partnership with MBW, will reveal the 20 artists (10 from the US and 10 from the UK) that the global video service is tipping for the top over the next 10 days.

Tom Connaughton SVP, Creative Content & Programming, said: “Supporting and nurturing new artists is really at the heart of our mission as a company, and Vevo dscvr is where an artist’s journey with our audience begins.”

dscvr champions three or four artists per month, chiefly through live sessions, and the whole process feeds into the Artists To Watch list, which launched in 2014.

“It’s a great way of giving them an even bigger push and a bigger platform,” says Connaughton.

“we had over 500 submissions for the 20 spots this year, so you can imagine the sort of work that goes into whittling down the list.”

“It’s become a very sought after endorsement in the artist community, so much so that we had over 500 submissions for the 20 spots this year, so you can imagine the sort of work that goes into whittling down that list.”

That whittling has now finished and the Artists To Watch will be revealed between now and November 17.

So, without further ado, Vevo presents…

Yxng Bane
Label: Disturbing London
Management: G FrSH at FrSH Entertainment

Yxng Bane (pictured) is a rapper from London’s East End who gained a lot of attention through a remix of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, as well as featuring on Yungen’s track, Bestie, and breaking into the UK Top 40 with his own debut single Rihanna.

Three hits, all from different points on the musical spectrum. He claims the rap game “needed me”, but don’t confuse attitude with arrogance. Radio-friendly but defiantly creative, Yxng Bane has 2018 in his sights.

Claudia de Wolff, VP, creative content & programming, UK & international at Vevo says: “We’re really excited to launch our Artists to Watch list with Yxng Bane.

“His video for Rihanna launched on Vevo in August and has had over 7 million views to date, and on top of this, he recently sold out two shows at Omeara in a matter of minutes.

“If 2017 is anything to go by, he is in for a phenomenal 2018.”
