Vania Schlogel steps down from Board of Directors at Hipgnosis Songs Fund

Vania Schlogel, the Founder and Managing Partner of media and entertainment-focused investment firm Atwater Capital, has stepped from the Board of Directors at UK-listed Hipgnosis Songs Fund.

According to an announcement from Hipgnosis, Schlogel has stepped down as a Director of the Company with effect from April 30, 2023, to focus on her executive role at Atwater Capital, for which, according to the announcement, “her commitments and responsibilities have recently increased significantly”.

Schlogel joined the Hipgnosis Board in June 2021.

Schlogel founded Los Angeles-headquartered private equity firm Atwater in 2017.

Her company invests across the media and entertainment sector with a focus on companies that foster cultural diversity, working with management teams committed to embracing strong ESG practices.

Schlogel is also a former Chief Investment Officer of Roc Nation, and former CIO of another then-Jay-Z-owned company, TIDAL.

The exec is also a former member of KKR‘s Private Equity team, where she specialized in the Media sector and launched the Growth Equity division.

Schlogel was at KKR from 2009 to 2014. From 2011 to 2016, she sat on the Board of BMG – a key KKR investment during her tenure at the investment company.

Elsewhere in the music industry, Schlogel was previously Chairmwoman at Swedish music company Epidemic Sound, and was succeeded by former Shazam CEO and Chairman, Andrew Fisher in January last year.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Schlogel left the Epidemic Sound Board in January 2023.
