The CEO and Chairman of Universal Music Group International, Max Hole, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in the UK.
Hole (pictured, main) receives the honour for Services To The Music Industry.
The exec began his music industry career as an independent artist manager and record producer, before spending 16 years at Warner Music UK.
Hole joined UMG in 1998 as SVP, marketing and A&R, and moved up to Executive VP in 2004.
In 2010, he was named COO of Universal Music Group International, before being promoted in 2013.
Hole wasn’t the only UK music industry figure to be honoured over the weekend: popular artist manager and PPL‘s Director of Performer Affairs Keith Harris (pictured, inset) picked up an OBE for Services To The Music Industry.
Harris began work in the record industry in 1974, going on to work for the likes of Transatlantic Records, EMI Records and Motown.
In 1978 he moved to Los Angeles to work with Stevie Wonder before returning to the UK in 1982 to form his own management company. He has managed Junior Giscombe, Junior Tucker, Paul Johnson, Omar and the late Lynden David-Hall – and still represents Stevie Wonder.
Harris is also Chair of MusicTank and a former Chair of the Music Managers Forum.
Elsewhere in the Honours list, Sally Groves, Creative Director at Schott Music, received an MBE for Services To Music.
Opera and musical director Jonathan Kent recieved a CBE for Services To Music and Theatre, while composer Mark Turnage and singer Michael Ball were also also awarded CBEs for Services To Music and Services To Musical Theatre, respectively.
