Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has launched UMPG Israel, effective immediately.
Itamar Shafrir, a music business veteran of 20 years, has been appointed UMPG Israel’s General Manager, Publishing and Production Music.
He reports dually to Simon Baker, General Manager of UMPG Europe Publishing, and Michael Sammis, President of Universal Production Music worldwide.
In addition to working in music roles in New York, Tel Aviv and London, Shafrir worked in film and television for 12 years and held leadership roles at UMG sister company Havas London.
UMPG Israel’s launch builds upon Universal Music’s growing presence in the territory.
In June 2020, UMPG parent company Universal Music Group (UMG) launched a new Israel-based recorded music division.
Universal Music Israel is focused on signing and developing domestic Israeli talent, commercial partnerships, and new technology opportunities with Israeli companies.
Journalist and radio host Meytal Shevach was appointed to the position of A&R Manager, Universal Music Israel in October.
