Universal Music Group hires Roey Hershkovitz as Vice President of Capitol Studios & Digital Studios

Universal Music Group (UMG), has hired veteran television producer and late-night music booker Roey Hershkovitz as Vice President of Capitol Studios & Digital Studios.

In this newly created position, Hershkovitz will oversee Capitol Studios’ recording, tracking, mixing and mastering operations and label relations.

In this capacity, he will work closely with Paula Salvatore, Vice President of Administration and Sales, who will continue to be responsible for sales, booking and administration.

Hershkovitz will additionally help expand the studios’ audio-visual operations by integrating new technology and developing programming.

He reports to Christopher Jenkins, Executive Vice President of Digital Studios, and Patrick Kraus, Senior Vice President of Recording Studios & Archive Management.

At Capitol Studios, Hershkovitz and Salvatore are focused on providing recording, mixing and mastering services in Hollywood’s iconic Capitol Tower.

Offering a full suite of services including pre-production, mixing, tracking, production, editing and complete post production, UMG’s newly formed video services team, UMG Digital Studios, led by Jenkins, is building a creative team of award-winning producers from film and television.

With nearly two decades of late-night television experience, Hershkovitz joins UMG and Capitol Studios after a decade serving simultaneously as booker, producer and music production supervisor for the guest artist performance showcased on Conan O’Brien’s CONAN.

During his tenure, Hershkovitz produced musical performances by legendary acts such as U2, Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi, Coldplay and Weezer to Imagine Dragons, Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, The Killers, The Lumineers, Childish Gambino, Bastille and 5 Seconds of Summer.

He also produced a week-long tribute to The Beatles’ George Harrison with past Album of the Year Grammy Award winners Paul Simon, Beck, and Norah Jones, as well as Harrison’s multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter son, Dhani.

Hershkovitz additionally booked the first-ever US late-night television appearance of Luis Fonsi’s record-breaking hit, Despacito.

“Roey’s background in television production, post production and music uniquely qualifies him for this newly created role in UMG’s Digital Studios.”

Working his way up the ladder beginning as a show intern, Hershkovitz first joined O’Brien as a Post Production Supervisor, where he was instrumental in the show’s transition to utilizing a digital editing process, as well as moving the show from standard-definition to high-definition resolution.

He also served as Field Producer for many of the show’s most memorable remote comedy segments (‘Triumph The Insult Comic Dog at Star Wars,’ ‘Conan Goes to Finland’) and separately served as Co-Producer for multiple episodes of NBC’s hit show “The Office,” which ran for nine seasons.

“Roey’s background in television production, post production and music uniquely qualifies him for this newly created role in UMG’s Digital Studios,” said Jenkins.

“His ability to create the most welcoming creative environment and produce compelling visual content for our artists, labels and facilities will help Digital Studios continue to grow.

“Roey exemplifies the film and music super skill set and highly trained sensibility that artists demand. The confidence and vibe that Roey brings to our team is perfectly suited to our mission.”

“We are fortunate to have someone of Roey’s caliber join our team to help build on the legacy of this historic studio as we chart our course into the future.”
