UMG hires Maximilian Paproth for senior A&R role in central Europe

Universal Music Group has appointed Maximilian Paproth as Senior Director of A&R for Central Europe.

Paproth joins from Sony/ATV, where he was Head of Creative for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Previously, he worked for independent music publisher Budde Music for more than a decade, serving as Chief Executive of its UK operations prior to joining Sony/ATV in 2014.

Throughout his career, Paproth has been responsible for signing artists including Alma, Milky Chance, Annenmaykantereit, Felix Jaehn, Wincent Weiss, Joris, Max Giesinger, Moderat, Digitalism, and Cubeat.

In this newly created position, effective from February 1st, he will be responsible for signing and developing European and international talent throughout the region.

He will also focus on activating creative opportunities between domestic UMG labels and local artists within Central Europe, whilst supporting Universal Music Germany’s A&R team on future projects.

Paproth will be based in Berlin and report to Frank Briegmann, President, Universal Music President & CEO Central Europe Universal Music and Deutsche Grammophon.
