Courtney Phillips, UMG’s former Director of Brand Partnerships, joins meditation app Calm as Head of Music

Sleep and meditation app Calm has hired Courtney Phillips at Head of Music.

Phillips was previously Director of Brand Partnerships at Universal Music Group (UMG) and is a seasoned veteran within the music industry.

Working closely with Calm’s leadership and content teams, Phillips is tasked with growing Calm’s library of music, from ambient tunes to custom tracks with artists.

So far, Calm has partnered with Sam Smith, Above & Beyond, Sabrina Carpenter, Sigur Rós and others to produce original compositions.

In March, Moby entered into an exclusive partnership with Calm to release his album Long Ambients 2.

Calm Music has garnered 134 million streams to date.

Phillips career in the music industry started in the endorsements team at William Morris Endeavor.

From there she went to Universal Music Group, and then over to Filter Magazine to run partnerships and festival events.

Following that, she rejoined UMG where she spent several years as Director of Brand Partnerships.
