UK-based Music + Sport expands to present shows at rugby grounds

Music + Sport, the London based company behind the successful ‘Jockey Club Live’ venture, has announced a move into presenting music at high profile rugby venues.

A major show has already been booked for this summer at Gloucester Kingsholm Stadium, home of Aviva Premiership side Gloucester Rugby: Jess Glynne (pictured) has confirmed to headline on Saturday June 18th.

This is the first time Music + Sport has expanded its portfolio into rugby and the first time they have worked with a rugby-specific venue such as Gloucester Kingsholm Stadium.

Music+Sport signed a partnership with Live Nation last year, switching over from a deal with AEG.

Andrew Wilkinson, CEO of Music + Sport said, “Following the ongoing success of our ‘Jockey Club Live’ partnership, which we launched in 2014 and which has grown significantly year on year alongside our ‘Cricket Live’ venture, which we initiated last summer, we felt it was the right time to expand into other areas.

“Adding rugby to our portfolio of sports was a logical move and this show with Gloucester Kingsholm Stadium and Gloucester Rugby gives us the ideal platform to develop exciting music events for new audiences.”

Stephen Vaughn CEO of Gloucester Rugby said, ‘Kingsholm has built a reputation over the last few years of hosting some seriously strong acts including Tom Jones, Madness, Elton John and Lionel Richie and this year looks to be the best yet. Jess is going to pack the place out and the demand to see her has been phenomenal. Her shows have been getting rave reviews and we are really excited that she will be with us on 18th June.’

Jess Glynne said, “It’s going to be great fun playing at Gloucester Kingsholm stadium the home of Gloucester Rugby on the 18th June. I love outdoor shows so I can’t wait to share the summer evening with my fans!”

‘Jockey Club Live’ was established to increase the popularity and commercial success of live music events at the 15 Jockey Club owned racecourses around the UK.

Under the banner of ‘An Evening at The Races’ over 300,000 people attended the company’s horseracing plus music events in 2014.

As previously announced The Jockey Club Live are presenting a program of music shows at racecourses throughout summer 2016 including appearances from Jess Glynne, Little Mix, Bryan Adams, The Kaiser Chiefs, Will Young and Busted among others.

Jess Glynne’s scheduled racecourse appearances at Haydock Park, Sandown, Market Rasen and Newmarket this summer has so far seen over 65,000 tickets snapped up with two of the four shows now completely sold out and just a few tickets left for the others.Music Business Worldwide
