London-based independent PC Music has inked a multi-tiered label deal with Columbia Records and Sony Music which will see PC Music artists tap into Sony Music’s promotion, sales and distribution networks worldwide.
Founded by A. G. Cook, PC Music is home to a collective of performers and electronic musicians including Hannah Diamond, Kane West and Dux Content, as well as associate projects such as XL Recordings’ artist QT.
According to a release: “All these artists share a fascination with the immediately gratifying aspects of commercial chart music, delivering passionate pop jams.”
The first release under the new agreement will be an EP, Broken Flowers by Danny L Harle (pictured above) on 20 November 2015.
Harle will launch the EP at a special event at XOYO, London on 18 November as part of the XOYO Loves series.
VICE recently said that PC Music “dominated” the last twelve months, while FACT Magazine bestowed the firm with its “label of the year” award.
PC Music’s 2015 began with its label roster decamping to SXSW in Austin, Texas, for its first fully self-produced label showcase. Rolling Stone described the show as “more fun than bingeing on a gigantic bag of candy”, and the Guardian said it “proved the label is producing some of the most challenging, catchy and, most importantly, funny pop and dance music around”.
PC Music was the subject of a Guardian Guide cover profile in the summer, whilst the New York Times dubbed its groundbreaking Pop Cube event in the city in May “a high-concept extravaganza”.
