TuneCore, a DIY music distribution company owned by Believe, has teamed up with The Beatport Group, a portfolio of music companies for DJs and producers, to provide a new platform for TuneCore artists.

The alliance will allow TuneCore artists to distribute their songs to Beatport users, expanding their reach to an audience of electronic music fans, tastemakers, professional DJs and the platform’s in-house curation team.

Since its inception in 2006, New York–based TuneCore has been empowering independent artists.

TuneCore charges artists a flat annual fee to upload their music to DSPs like Spotify. It then pays those artists 100% of the royalties generated from their music.

Back in December, TuneCore said it had paid out $3 billion in royalties to artists since its launch in 2006 to early December. The figure was up by $500 million from $2.5 billion in April 2022.

Through the Beatport partnership, Tunecore artists using Unlimited distribution plans will be able to send their music to the Beatport platform for an add-on fee of $7.99 a month (billed annually).

Tunecore artists who send their music to Beatport will also have access to a comprehensive collection of genre tags among independent distributors, with Beatport now supporting 33 different electronic music genres and subgenres including House, Trance, UK Garage / Bassline & more.

“Electronic music is a top genre among TuneCore artists. Through this new partnership with Beatport, TuneCore is excited to offer comprehensive distribution options for our electronic artists around the world.”

“Electronic music is a top genre among TuneCore artists. Through this new partnership with Beatport, TuneCore is excited to offer comprehensive distribution options for our electronic artists around the world, and give them access to a direct pipeline from their recording studio to the vibrant world of clubs, festivals and radio, as well as the potential for additional promotional opportunities through Beatport’s DJ Charts and renowned editorial features,” said TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson.

Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels added: “As the number of music creators around the world continues to accelerate, enabling TuneCore’s customers to easily upload their music to Beatport is an important way for us to nurture new talent in the dance music space.”

“We’re thrilled to be working closely with Andreea and her team to help empower the next generation of DJs, producers and artists.”

To mark the launch of the new partnership, Gleeson and McDaniels will participate in multiple events at the International Music Summit in Ibiza including a TuneCore-produced reception on Thursday (April 27) and a fireside chat at the Beatport Villa the following day.

TuneCore will also be celebrating the new partnership with a talent search to discover and promote up-and-coming electronic music artists and producers. The talent search will be carried out through its electronic music-focused imprint b:electronic.

The talent search will be open to artists currently distributed by TuneCore and submissions will be accepted through a dedicated LabelRadar portal. All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges, consisting of producers, DJs, and industry professionals.

The selected winners will receive funding to aid their growth and career development.

In January, TuneCore renewed its partnership with now Believe-owned UK-based publishing administrator Sentric Music Group to use the latter’s technology and direct global collection network to boost revenue streams for TuneCore publishing songwriters.

For Beatport, the partnership comes as the company launches new initiatives to offer a range of tools and support to DIY artists through its Music Services division led by Alex Branson.
