Ticketmaster opens HQ in Austria

Ticketmaster has opened a new office in Vienna, Austria – its second recent entry into a German-language market following the opening of its pan-European ticketing HQ in Germany in 2011.

Multiple promoters operating both in Germany and Austria – including Germany’s Deutsche Entertainment AG (DEAG) – will now push their Austrian content through Ticketmaster’s local website.

The first tickets sold on the platform this week, were for Austrian André Heller’s successful touring production of Afrika! Afrika! in Vienna.

Commenting on this promoter Faiza C. Hoffmann said: “We are thrilled that we were the first to sell tickets on the new Ticketmaster.at platform and are looking forward to working with the team on maximizing sales for our shows now and in the future.”

Michael Rapino, President and Chief Executive Officer of Live Nation Entertainment said: “This expansion into Austria is part of our strategic vision to expand our global footprint, bringing the most comprehensive ticketing products and world-class service to even more venue clients and fans. With Ticketmaster operations in 19 countries, we are improving the fan experience and building a successful presence around the world.”

Mark Yovich (pictured), President of Ticketmaster International said: “The response we have had from promoters and arts institutions in Austria about our new service has been fantastic. Steeped in the rich musical history of Mozart and Beethoven, the country boasts the highest number of visits to live events per capita of any European country and with more than 36 million tourists visiting every year, its cities have a vivid cultural offering which Ticketmaster will help market both locally and internationally.”Music Business Worldwide
