UK-based independent music company Wise Music Group has appointed Thomas Jamois as Managing Director of Wise Music France.

In his new role, Jamois will spearhead the management of all office operations and French publishing houses under the Wise Music umbrella. This includes overseeing entities such as Première Music, Éditions Alphonse Leduc, Campbell Connelly, Les Editions Transatlantiques, Bleu Blanc Rouge, Choudens, Le Chant du Monde and Musique des Anges.

With 27 years of experience in the music industry, Jamois brings a wealth of expertise to his new position. He is recognized as an entrepreneur and a specialist in music supervision and synch. Additionally, Jamois serves as a board member of French CMO SACEM and publishers’ group CSDEM.

Prior to joining Wise Music Group, Jamois founded Velvetica Music, an independent specializing in film and TV music publishing and administration, in 2011. Velvetica Music in 2020 inked a sub-publishing deal with UK-born Bucks Music Group.

Before that, Jamois held the position of Head of Music Publishing and Synch at Naïve for seven years.

“It’s an honor to serve such a prestigious catalog owned by a family group. The nobility and diversity of the repertoire, combined with the international network, enable us to anticipate with confidence and creativity the challenges that our profession is constantly facing.”

Under Jamois’s leadership, Velvetica Music will continue to operate independently, with Johanna Bisac stepping up as the new Managing Director. The move ensures continuity within Velvetica Music while allowing Jamois to focus on his new role at Wise Music France.

“It’s an honor to serve such a prestigious catalog owned by a family group. The nobility and diversity of the repertoire, combined with the international network, enable us to anticipate with confidence and creativity the challenges that our profession is constantly facing,” said Jamois.

Marcus Wise, Wise Music Group’s CEO, added, “I’m delighted to have Thomas join the Wise Music family, and I look forward to working with him to lead our French and Francophone business forward with continued catalog acquisitions and high-profile signings.”

Wise Music Group, formerly known as The Music Sales Group, boasts ownership or control of over half a million copyrights. This includes a wide repository of historic and contemporary classical music, alongside a range of popular songs spanning genres such as evergreen, jazz, reggae, blues, pop, and rock.

Additionally, in February 2023, Wise Music’s Australian division entered into an exclusive digital licensing partnership with SESAC Digital Licensing, a music rights organization headquartered in Liechtenstein.
