The Orchard doubles down on K-pop with global JYP Entertainment deal

Distribution and services company The Orchard has partnered with K-Pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment (JYPE) and will now handle global digital and physical distribution for the Seoul-based company.

JYPE and The Orchard will work closely to expand the label’s presence around the world.

As a result of the deal, JYPE’s catalog including music by K-Pop acts TWICE, GOT7 and DAY6, all of which launched world tours in 2018, as well as rising stars Stray Kids (pictured) and ITZY, is now available on all major digital services worldwide for the first time.

The Orchard, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment since 2015, has successful experience in the K-Pop genre, as proven through the company’s distribution of breakthrough acts such as BTS, Eric Nam and Chung Ha.

In November Tim Pithouse joined The Orchard as Global Head of Artist & Label Services – moving over from his previous role as General Manager, International Marketing and Artist Development at Sony Music Australia.Music Business Worldwide
