The Beatport Group makes string of promotions and organization changes

The Beatport Group, a portfolio of music companies for DJs and producers, has made key appointments in its management including C-suite changes and promoting a number of executives.

Included in those changes is the promotion of Sean Sullivan, who has been named Chief Technology Officer.

Sullivan has been with Beatport since 2018. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Technology after serving as Vice President of Technology and Director of Infrastructure, according to his LinkedIn page.

Beatport also opened the new role of Chief Community Officer to oversee community partnerships, regional business development and corporate communications. The position is expected to be filled in the first quarter of 2023, the company said in a press release on Thursday (November 17).

Beatport has further revealed that it will be transitioning all employees in its Berlin and Denver offices to “fully remote” work in the first half of 2023.

It added that it will focus on building its London (including the Producer Group office Brighton) and Los Angeles office locations in the future.

The company says that “these changes resulted in five positions being eliminated in Berlin”.

“While we turn the page on our longstanding offices in Denver and Berlin, we will maintain a meaningful presence in both locations for many years to come,” said CEO Robb McDaniels.

Additionally, the company has promoted Helen Sartory to SVP, Creator Services in charge of both the DJ Group (Beatport and Beatsource) and Producer Group (Loopcloud and Plugin Boutique); Brian Wong to General Manager of the DJ Group and Gareth Halsall as GM of the Producer Group.

Meike Nolte was named Head of the Artist Services team reporting to Sartory, while Heiko Hoffmann will transfer to the Corporate Strategy & Marketing Group to work on the company’s education initiative while also overseeing the editorial site, Beatportal.

Beatport has also promoted Julia Kammann to VP of People & Culture, reporting directly to CEO Robb McDaniels.

Founded in Denver in 2004, Beatport opened its first office in Berlin a few years later and expanded into London and Los Angeles after growing into a global music company focusing on DJs.

The company currently has more than 200 employees, up from 40 by the end of 2017.

The latest move follows the addition of three new members to the company’s board last month. The new board members include Maria May, Head of Electronic/International at Creative Artists Agency; Adrienne Everett, formerly an Account Director at Linkedin in Marketing Solutions; and Troy Duncan, a Managing Director of Fortress Investment Group.

It also follows another C-level appointment in August when Beatport appointed Matt Gralen to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Gralen joined the company from UnitedMasters, a distribution platform for independent artists, where he served as EVP of Corporate Development.Music Business Worldwide
