Taylor Swift’s Reputation sells 1.29m in opening week in the US

It’s official: according to US market monitor BuzzAngle, Taylor Swift’s Reputation sold 1.27m ‘full albums’ in its opening week in the market.

Throw in ‘equivalents’ based on single song sales and audio streams and that figure rises to 1.29m.

That means Reputation has pulled off a major feat by (just) outselling the first week of Swift’s huge 1989 album.

It also means Swift has become the first artist in US history to notch up four consecutive million-plus album first weeks.

Reputation continues not to appear on streaming services such as Spotify over a week after its release.

Some have suggested that a UPS partnership will have boosted Swift’s week-one figure for Reputation.

Fans who pre-ordered a physical copy of Reputation via UPS were reportedly each given three digital copies of the album to share with family and friends.

If those extra digital copies were chart-eligible,  it would have likely provided a significant uplift for the multi-Grammy winning star.
