Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has inked an exclusive publishing agreement with R&B singer/songwriter Coco Jones following the success of her EP, What I Didn’t Tell You.

The EP has earned Jones five Grammy nominations at the forthcoming 66th Annual Awards, including a nod for Best New Artist. What I Didn’t Tell You also spawned her first Billboard Hot 100 hit with the platinum-selling single, ICU. The track has so far generated 40.8 million Spotify streams.

Jones embarked on her first, and sold-out, headlining tour across 16 major US cities in 2023. The artist has nearly 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Born in South Carolina and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee, Coco Jones, also known as Courtney Michaela Jones, began her music journey at the age of nine. Beyond her early recordings, she gained prominence through her role in the Disney Channel film Let it Shine in 2012 and the sitcom Good Luck Charlie.

Jones independently released music between 2014 and 2018, with notable tracks like Depressed and Just My Luck. After the release of her EPs H.D.W.Y. in 2019 and Hollyweird in 2020, Jones signed with High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings in 2022 and unveiled her EP What I Didn’t Tell You.

She then expanded the EP and received Grammy nominations, securing wins at the BET and Soul Train Music Awards, along with the NAACP Image Awards‘ Outstanding New Artist. Jones has collaborated with industry players who have worked with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, and Summer Walker.

“Music has been a constant in my life and the motivation that has anchored me since the very beginning. Discovering a team at Warner Chappell that shares that same passion and understands my voice and vision is very special to me,” said Coco Jones.

Xavier Champagne, Senior Director, Urban A&R, Warner Chappell Music, also commented on the deal, describing Jones as “a natural superstar.”

“She’s a top-tier performer and has a special talent for songwriting that connects deeply with her fans. With five Grammy nominations to her name, it’s clear that R&B is in great hands. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with her on this journey.”

Ryan Press, President, North America, WCM, highlighted Jones’s “unique voice,” saying “it’s great to see her having her moment as both a songwriter and artist. She’s helping pave an entirely new era of R&B and her hustle and work ethic have led to a year of breakthroughs. Now let’s go win some Grammys!”

The deal with Jones mark WCM’s latest artist signing after striking a deal with iconic singer-songwriter Dido in November, and and renewing its partnership with songwriter Rick Boardman, the founder of Manchester-based songwriting collective The Six, the same month.

Last spring, WCM signed DJ and songwriter Nia Archives, and inked a partnership with Grammy-nominated producer Tommy Brown, the founder of Champagne Therapy Music Group.
