Royalty Exchange

Royalty Exchange is an online auction platform and marketplace for the buying and selling of music rights and royalty streams.

Headquartered in Denver, US, the company was originally founded in North Carolina in 2011 by Sean Peace, Reggie Calloway, and Wilson Owens.

In October 2015, Royalty Exchange was acquired by a new consortium of investors including the company’s now CEO, Matthew Smith, and its President & CFO, Jeff Schneider.

In June 2017, Royalty Exchange raised an investment round of $6.4 million, and appointed three music industry veterans to its board – Jeff King (COO, SOCAN), Bill Silva (Bill Silva Presents and Bill Silva Management), and  Travis Hill (Carnival Music co-founder and songwriter).

In October 2020, Royalty Exchange announced that it had hosted its 1,000th transaction.

Those thousand transactions, said the company, had seen over $84 million spent on rights and royalty streams via the Royalty Exchange platform – an average asset sale price of $84,000.Music Business Worldwide
