Rdio’s head of European partnerships, Stefan Baumschlager, left the streaming company abruptly at the end of last year – and now we know why.
Baumschlager has been named Manager of YouTube‘s partnerships with music publishing companies in the EU, MBW understands.
He is perfectly placed for the role: at Rdio, a big part of his responsibilities involved negotiating licenses with European collection societies and pan-EU publishers including the majors like PAECOL (SonyATV), CELAS (EMI Publishing), SACEM (UMPI), Warner Chappell and ARESA (BMG).
Baumschlager spent nearly three years at Rdio, where he was also a key contact for labels in Europe.
Previously, the German exec – a former music journalist – worked for Last.fm for five years, including a stint as its Head Of Music.Music Business Worldwide
