Stacey Tang named Managing Director of RCA UK

Stacey Tang has been appointed Managing Director of RCA UK – leaving behind her position at fellow Sony label Columbia.

The highly-regarded executive will report directly to David Dollimore, President of RCA UK and Ministry Of Sound Recordings, in her new role.

Tang has been co-MD of Columbia UK since November last year. Since then, she has overseen six No.1 UK albums at the label – with Columbia’s albums market share more than doubling in the territory.

Tang has played a key role in launching the careers of two of the biggest UK breakthrough artists of recent years – George Ezra and Rag’n’Bone Man – as well as working closely on campaigns for Calvin Harris.

In the past few months, Tang has worked on Harris’s million-selling track One Kiss (with Dua Lipa), as well as George Ezra’s platinum-selling No.1 second album Staying At Tamara’s.

Prior to joining Columbia in 2012, Tang was a Senior Marketing Manager at Atlantic Records UK, and was a key member of the team that helped break Ed Sheeran via his first album, +.

“Stacey has delivered time and again with both domestic and international artists and her business acumen and leadership skills will make RCA the ideal home for exceptional artists.”

David Dollimore (pictured with Tang) said: “Stacey is one of the most respected and creative executives in the business. Her love of great music, her passion for artist development and her steely determination are totally infectious.

“She has delivered time and again with both domestic and international artists and her business acumen and leadership skills will make RCA the ideal home for exceptional artists. She shares my vision and ambition for the label and I’m very excited about what we can achieve together.”

Stacey Tang said: “I am looking forward to joining the team at RCA, and working with them to deliver an exciting roster and the future-facing label David has a vision for.”

Ferdy Unger-Hamilton, President, Columbia Records UK, said: “It’s been a real pleasure working with Stacey. She’s one of the best executives that I’ve ever worked with and I wish her well in her new role at RCA.”

Manish Arora will assume the role of sole MD at Columbia following Tang’s departure.

Tang succeeds Neil Hughes as MD of RCA. Hughes has left the company and will announce his future plans soon.

Dollimore added: “I wish Neil continued success in the future and would like to thank him for his hard work and contribution.”

Since Tang joined Columbia in 2012, she has been promoted every year; latterly being appointed Co-MD, where she has been responsible for managing the marketing and digital teams and strategy for the label’s roster.

In 2014 she steered the marketing for George Ezra’s debut album, Wanted On Voyage, which went in at No.1 on the UK albums charts and has now sold more than a million copies in the market.

She has also helmed campaigns for breaking acts Lotto Boyz and B-Young and global stars Mark Ronson and Arcade Fire.

In addition, Tang has led UK campaigns for international artists including A$AP Rocky, Harry Styles, First Aid Kit, Foo Fighters, LCD Soundsystem, Wiz Kid, Kings Of Leon and Khalid.Music Business Worldwide
