Spotify Wrapped is becoming an annual tradition for the streaming service’s users – and Spotify has the data to back that up.
The Sweden-headquartered company said Thursday (December 4) that Wrapped 2025 was the biggest one yet, reaching 200 million engaged users is approximately 24 hours – a 19% increase year-over-year.
In 2024, it took Wrapped around 62 hours to reach 200 million users. Spotify defines an “engaged user” as someone who viewed at least one story within Wrapped.
The customized, interactive recap of users’ engagement on the platform over the past year includes data on users’ most listened-to songs and artists, preferred genres, and total listening time. This year’s Wrapped introduced a live multiplayer feature that allows users to compare their statistics with those of their friends.
That might help to explain the 41% YoY increase in shares this year, to around 500 million. A “share” includes native shares within the app as well as downloads and screenshots.

Other new Wrapped features this year include Listening Age, which estimates the musical era that a user’s tastes most closely align with; Clubs, which sorts users into six categories representing a unique listening style; and insights into podcast and audiobook listening habits.
The success of Wrapped – which has existed in one form or another since 2016 – has inspired other music streamers to introduce their own recaps for users.
Apple Music has been offering its Replay feature since 2019, which is also the year YouTube Music’s Recap launched, and Amazon Music introduced Delivered in 2024, though it previously had a less detailed “year in review” feature.Music Business Worldwide
