Spotify veteran Will Hope exits to join YouTube as Head of Artist Marketing, EMEA

Spotify veteran Will Hope has left the music streaming company to join YouTube as Head of Artist Marketing, EMEA.

The London-based executive started in the new role this month, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Hope has worked at Spotify for nearly 10 years, initially joining the company as Senior Account Manager in 2010. He was promoted to Director of Label Relations in 2011 and was promoted several more times between 2011 and 2017.

He also held positions at Universal Music Group and Warner Music group prior to joining Spotify.

The exec was most recently Spotify’s Head of Artist Marketing, UK & International.

The appointment of Hope as YouTube’s new Head of Artist Marketing, EMEA follows the news in June that widely respected Warner Music veteran Dan Chalmers has been poached to run YouTube Music in EMEA.

Chalmers is currently President of ADA, Warner’s independent services and distribution arm, in the UK, and will report to YouTube’s global Head of Music Lyor Cohen when he joins the company.

There have been various top-tier executive departures and changes at Spotify UK and globally this year.

In June MBW broke the news that Austin Daboh, Spotify UK’s Head of Music Culture & Editorial has resigned from the company.

Spotify’s Global Head of Publishing, Adam Parness also exited his role that same month.

Last month saw Sulinna Ong appointed to the newly-created role of Head of Music in the UK and Ireland, three months after joining Spotify from Deezer, where she was Global Vice President of Artist Marketing.Music Business Worldwide
