Spotify signs huge partnership with US telco Sprint

Spotify has signed a major deal with US mobile giant Sprint that will allow ‘Framily’ customers of the telco to receive six months of Spotify Premium for free.

The deal will be extended to all all new and existing Sprint customers who are on a Sprint Framily plan and have an Android smartphone, iPhone or a Windows 8/8.1 smartphone. Customers not on a Framily plan can enjoy Spotify free for three months.

After the free six month trial, Sprint Framily members can pay a reduced monthly promotional price of $7.99 (1-5 users) or $4.99 (6-10 users) for the next 18 months, depending on the number of Spotify Premium users in their family. After 24 months customers pay the standard Spotify price (currently $9.99 per month).

“With Spotify, people literally have all of the world’s music in their pockets,” said Daniel Ek, Spotify founder and CEO. “Spotify and Sprint share a passion for music and technology that makes this partnership a natural fit for both companies — and the best music deal ever for Sprint customers.”

Sprint was the third largest U.S. wireless network operator as of 2014, serving 54.8 million customers at the end of the third quarter of 2014.Music Business Worldwide
