Spotify expands into Poland, Portugal and Italy

Spotify has expanded into three European markets for the first time – Italy, Poland and Portugal.

The move means Spotify is now in 20 markets: USA, UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Luxembourg, Italy, Poland and Portugal.

Spotify has racked up 5 million paying subscribers across the globe, while rival sudio streaming service Deezer has 3 million at last count. Spotify has 20 million active users in total.

Since its launch in Sweden in 2008, Spotify says it has handed over more than half a billion US dollars to rightsholders, and aims to drive another half a billion US dollars to rightsholders during 2013.Music Business Worldwide
