Spotify backs keenly contested category at A&R Awards

The big names continue to back next month’s A&R Awards, and stepping forward to sponsor the Contemporary Black Music category is one of the very biggest: Spotify.

The streaming giant’s UK/IE, Head of Music, Sulinna Ong, said: “Contemporary Black Music reflects the zeitgeist and beating heart of British culture, so we at Spotify are incredibly proud to support this award again this year. This UK sound is being exported and replicated around the globe, and it’s the highly skilled A&R community that are fundamental to discovering and nurturing this phenomenal generation of talent.”

The UK-focused event, presented by MBW, will take place on the evening of Tuesday, November 9, at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. We’re now completely sold-out, sorry (not sorry).

Other categories at the industry’s most enjoyable night out will include Songwriter of the Year, Producer of The Year, A&R of the Year: Adult Contemporary, A&R Administrator, A&R Of The Year: Electronic/Dance, A&R of the Year: Pop/R&B, Song of the Year and A&R of The Year: Rock/Alternative.

There will also be winners announced in categories such as Major Label of The Year, Independent Label of The Year, Publisher of the Year, Management Company, and Artist To Watch (in association with Vevo), plus A&R Icon, and, of course, The Sir George Martin Award.
