Splice — valued in 2021 at nearly USD $500 million after securing $55 million in funding – has acquired again.
Less than a year after the company’s acquisition of UK-based “high-end” virtual instrument library Spitfire Audio for a reported $50 million in May 2025, Splice has acquired Kits AI, an AI-powered voice production platform that enables music creators “to generate, transform, and refine [their] vocals”.
Co-founders Evan Dhillon and Kyle Dhillon, along with the Kits AI team, have joined Splice.
Kits AI was backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Palm Tree Crew, 3LAU, Louis Bell, Steve Aoki, Wyclef Jean, Electric Feel Ventures, WndrCo Ventures, and 1Confirmation.
Splice said on Wednesday (January 21) that the acquisition “further advances” its long-term strategy to “develop responsible, creator-first, generative AI technologies”.
According to the company, Kits AI’s vocal technology, which is certified Fairly Trained, will “build on this foundation and accelerate Splice’s ability to deliver trusted AI tools at scale”.
Splice’s acquisition of Spitfire Audio in May 2025 paved the way for the launch of Splice’s INSTRUMENT virtual instrument product.
It also builds on a series of product and partnership milestones over the past year, including the, direct integration of Splice Sounds with Ableton and, in December 2025, a wide-ranging partnership with Universal Music Group “to collaborate on the next generation of AI-powered music creation tools for artists.
Founded in 2021, Kits AI claims to be the first platform to introduce Licensed Artist Voice Models and says it has processed more than 80 million minutes of vocals for over 7 million users.
According to Wednesday’s announcment, as part of Splice, Kits AI’s technology “will expand how artists, producers, and songwriters work with vocals as a core creative instrument”.
“I’m excited to work with this visionary team to build new ways for our customers to explore ideas, shape melodies, and experiment with sound.”

“It was important to us to find a team that shared Splice’s creator-first values, and that was equally committed to the responsible development of AI, including artist compensation,” said Kakul Srivastava, CEO of Splice.
“Kits AI’s ML research has delivered multiple frontier models, including zero-shot voice cloning (IVC) and generative vocals (KGV1.0), both trained on fully-licensed data.
“I’m excited to work with this visionary team to build new ways for our customers to explore ideas, shape melodies, and experiment with sound.”
“Our focus at Kits has always been on combining ML research and artist collaboration to deliver responsible AI music tools.”
