SoundCloud is now offering a music mastering service powered by Dolby

SoundCloud has launched a new mastering service powered by Dolby.

Mastering on SoundCloud costs $4.99/mastered track, while creators with SoundCloud’s premium creator subscription, SoundCloud Pro Unlimited get three free masters every month with the option to purchase additional ones for a discounted price of $3.99 each.

According to SoundCloud, Mastering on SoundCloud is “directly integrated into a creator’s SoundCloud workflow”, so they can create masters without leaving their account.

The tool will master any file type (even lossless HD like WAV, FLAC or AIFF) and creators can choose from “a custom suite of mastering styles” created specifically for SoundCloud artists.

“Dolby’s mastering technology doesn’t just analyze your track, it critically listens to your music similar to the way an engineer would.’

“Dolby’s mastering technology doesn’t just analyze your track, it critically listens to your music similar to the way an engineer would – identifying the details, the sections, and musical transitions that give your song its unique story arc,” writes SoundCloud in a blog post announcing the new tool.

“Using the mastering profiles of your choice, this detailed “sonic map” is then used to sculpt the tone and overall dynamic profile of your mix while prioritizing your creative intent.

“With this technology now built into your workflow and available via a custom suite of mastering styles created specifically for SoundCloud artists, your track will be ready for streaming playback and you can be confident about releasing new music.”

In April, SoundCloud launched a new marketing and distribution platform called Repost by SoundCloud for ‘serious artists who want to take their career to the next level’.
