Sony Music Publishing strikes global deal with India-based record label Big Bang Music

Big Bang Music, a record label based in India, has signed a global publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing (SMP).

The deal will allow SMP to administer and promote Big Bang’s songs globally.

Big Bang Music is described as “a new age music platform, dedicated to finding superstars in the Indie music space”.

According to a press release, this deal with Sony Music Publishing “underscores the influence of India’s Indie sound and talent’s ever-growing demand around the world”.

The press release adds that “the partnership is anticipated to boost the publishing and royalty earnings of artists and songwriters [working with Big Bang] while attaining a more extensive global audience via sync opportunities and global songwriter collaborations”.

The agreement covers administration, sync, and catalog promotion of the label’s repertoire.

Big Bang Music was founded in 2019 as a joint venture between Sony Music and management company KWAN.

“We want to enable independent artists to engage with fans through personal expression and future sounds that’ll impact popular culture in India beyond Bollywood and cricket,”  Big Bang Music Founder and CEO Gaurav Wadhwa, said in a statement at the time.
