Sony Music launches JV label with Australian booking company 123 Agency

Sony Music has launched a new joint venture label with 123 Agency – one of the fastest-growing live booking agencies in Australia.

According to Sony,  123 Music will be a ‘cutting-edge label with a fearless drive to showcase a diverse roster of Australian artists to a global audience’ as well as a ‘creative community for a variety of artists across all genres, with exciting announcements to be made in the near future’.

123 Agency, which runs offices in both Melbourne and Sydney, represents artists such as Kingswood, Dear Seattle and Hollow Coves.

It also looks after Tash Sultana – a hotly-tipped singer/songwriter from Melbourne whose debut album, Flow State, is due for release via Sony in Australia (and Mom + Pop in other territories) later this month.

Denis Handlin AO, Chairman & CEO, Australia & New Zealand and President, Asia, Sony Music Entertainment, said; “Damian Costin and the team at 123 Agency have continually proven themselves as innovative and forward-thinking professionals, and we are delighted to welcome them to the Sony Music family.

“123 Music is an exciting venture that will enable the diversification and development of a talented roster of Australian artists. This venture will further expand Sony Music’s brilliant roster of artists and we are looking forward to an exciting future together.”

Damian Costin, Founder/Director of 123 Agency, said: “Over the past few years, we have been busy building our business into a dynamic and powerful offering for our clients. To have the opportunity to work with Denis Handlin and his incredible team at Sony Music is a true honour.

“Their passion for artists and music is truly astounding. We have wanted to work closely for some time now, so we really can’t wait to launch 123 Music and create some legacy acts together.”

Founded in 2013, 123 Agency describes itself as ‘sitting somewhere between a corporate and a creative agency… we help artists, labels, managers and individuals see a different future – then we help them get there’.
