Sony Music and CTS EVENTIM acquire two ticketing firms in South America via joint venture

Germany-headquartered live music company CTS EVENTIM and Sony Music Latin Iberia are expanding their EVENTIM joint venture to acquire Punto Ticket in Chile and Teleticket in Peru.

The companies formed a JV in 2016 under the EVENTIM banner to provide ticketing services in Brazil, leveraging, according to the companies, “both CTS EVENTIM’s state-of-the-art technology platform and Sony Music Latin Iberia’s broad range of Latin American business”.

The two new acquisitions will now provide ticketing systems and related services to concert promoters and venues across Chile and Peru.

According to CTS Eventim, the expansion signifies a “pivotal growth” for its operations in South America, a region it says has “immense potential for the live entertainment industry”.

The leadership of both Punto Ticket and Teleticket will continue to lead their respective companies.

The acquisitions in Chile and Peru come two years after CTS EVENTIM entered the North American ticketing market. The company’s US-based website eventim.com started selling tickets on September 26, 2021.

CTS EVENTIM generated revenues of EUR €1.021 billion in the first half of 2023, a 39% increase compared with the prior-year period. This revenue haul marked the first time the company generated in excess of EUR €1 billion within a six-month period.
