Songtradr acquires UK-based sync licensing company Cuesongs

Los Angeles-based B2B music licensing marketplace Songtradr has acquired UK-based boutique sync licensing company, Cuesongs.

Representing over 150 independent labels and publishers, Cuesongs was originally founded by singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel and is known for its custom curated catalog.

This acquisition is the first to follow the completion of Songtradr’s recent Series C funding round, which raised $30 million – valuing the company at $165m.

Songtradr previously raised $4m in a Series A funding round in 2018 and $12m in a Series B funding round last year.

With this investment, Songtradr plans to accelerate its global expansion plans, product development and fund key acquisitions, building out its ecosystem and further enriching its data capabilities.

Like Songtradr, Cuesongs is used by supervisors, producers, agencies, and content creators and provides a catalog of over 20,000 tracks from the UK and Europe.

Current artists represented include Knucks, Flux Pavilion and Demob Happy.

The Cuesongs team recently worked on the Drill Music documentary Terms & Conditions for Youtube Originals and It’s All About, the recent campaign for ITV’s Black History Month.

“Cuesongs is a premium music agency. The caliber of talent they work with and the quality of the tracks they license makes them a natural fit for integrating into our ecosystem.”
